Why can’t I unassign a license from a project?

To support our licensing policy of one license per production instance, Amasty limits how many times a license can be removed/reassigned from a project. Each product license has a limited number of unassign actions available. By default, a license can be unassigned up to 2 times.

What is considered an “unassign”?

An unassign is any action that removes a license from a project.

This includes:

  • Removing a license from a project

  • Reassigning a license to another project (since it is automatically removed from the current one)

How can I see how many unassign actions are left?

When assigning licenses, you will see the following message:

“License unassign available: X.”

Where X shows how many times the license can still be removed from a project.

What happens when the limit is reached?

When the limit is reached, you will see the following notification:

“The unassign limit has been reached. You can no longer unassign this item.”

At this point:

  • You cannot remove the license from the project

  • You cannot move it to another project

However, you can still:

  • Add unassigned licenses to projects

  • Use other available actions such as upgrades or transfers, when applicable.
